Introduction

Welcome to East Texas Cooking!  I was born and raised in East Texas and learned to cook from a woman who loved me unconditionally - my Grandmother.

My grandmother, who I affectionally called "Boo", had eight sisters who came to visit from time to time and they were great cooks but they couldn't out-do my Grandmother's meals. (Though, one of my Aunts made the best turnip greens I have ever tasted!) I heard my Mother tell me once that my.

During the summer we shelled alot of peas, grated many ears of corn, picked blackberries and peaches - and freezing them to enjoy in the winter. I watched my Grandmother milk cows and churn butter and one of the simplest meals that she greatly enjoyed was cornbread and buttermilk (served together in a bowl or cup). I'm sure she is enjoying that in Heaven!
